Getting to Know You is about the early interaction between parents and new babies. Its a quiet, contemplative read, conveying that feeling (to the parent) of being in a different time-warp; not being a part of the rest of the world for that time; feeling that overwhelming sense of awe towards this tiny human being and all of its needs that must be met. Those care routines breastfeeding, changing nappies, etc. are therefore presented as integral to the knowing-each-other thats developing through such interactions.
